Bobo was one of the many cute kittens that come into the animal shelter every summer. He was surrendered by his owner on September 3, 2019 and rescued by Walton Animal Guild on September 5, 2019. He was sponsored by pledged donations to the rescue from Janice and Carol.

In over two decades of working in animal shelters, I’ve never seen Zeus’ breed before. I have to admit, my first assumption was that he was a Great Pyrenees mix. But after checking out his vet records, a shelter co-worker discovered Zeus was actually a Tibetan Mastiff mix!

His owner surrendered him to the animal shelter on September 3, 2019. He was a young boy at just 9 months old. They said he was getting too territorial aggressive with strangers coming to the house. Now I’m no genius, but I would assume that if you didn’t desire guarding behavior, you wouldn’t buy a dog that is bred for guardian purposes.

Tibetan Mastiffs were originally bred at sheep guardian dogs. There were reportedly tied outside the home as a guardian and in nomad camps and in villages allowed to run loose at night to protect sheep from wolves, leopards, bears, and tigers.

I thought his protective behavior was going to make it hard to get him re-homed. But I was wrong again! By the end of the day, Zeus had 9 pending adoption/rescue applications. When he left early the next morning he had 14 interested rescues!
He was rescued by Bullpen Rescue on September 4, 2019. His rescue was sponsored by donations to the rescue from Dana, Polly and Becky.

​Hello Bill - I just saw your name and email address come across a posting and I’m so happy to know how to reach you - you helped a beautiful yellow lab get to Atlanta Lab Rescue almost 10 years ago - he was 3.5yo (owners who dumped him also left his vet records so I know his birthdate)...top of the euth list, but you reached out to  Becky at ALR and told her she absolutely had to take him - I was living in CT at the time and happened to see him on ALR website and the rest is history thanks to you and Becky - adopted Huck “Ducky” 11/8/09 (he was Buddy) and he has had an amazing life as a beloved family member. He turned 13 in June so is a slow senior but he’s living large where we now reside on the beach in Charleston SC😊 We are so grateful for all you do to save countless precious pups. I hope this email finds you well.
